Soil microbiology laboratory |
Main activity: Soil microbiology and environmental biotechnology. The study of diversity of soil microorganisms, their morphological and physiological properties, their role in the circulation of the major nutrients. Development of the theoretical problems of stability of landscapes to different pollutants, including a biocide. Main scientific achievements: The physiological, biochemical and ecological features of the structure of the soil biogeocenosis in the main types and subtypes of soils in the southern part of Azerbaijan, up to the Absheron Peninsula, were studied, which made it possible to carry out microbiological mapping of these soils depending on the soil biogenicity. Theoretical foundations have been developed for creating a closed biotechnological economy in a large industrial region – the Absheron Peninsula-through the effective use of internal bioresources while simultaneously solving acute regional environmental problems - cleaning oil – contaminated soils, increasing their fertility and improving the quality of urban soils in Baku. The main regularities of the distribution of microorganisms in various soil and climatic conditions are revealed, the main regularities of the participation of soil microorganisms in the processes of self-purification and the resistance of various types of soils to pollution by organic substances – pesticides, petroleum hydrocarbons, etc. The scientific basis for the production of biologics for cleaning various types of soil from petroleum hydrocarbons and pesticides based on active strains of microorganisms has been developed.
