The scientific council of the Institute of Microbiology of the Ministry of Science and Education of the Republic of Azerbaijan held a report meeting on the results of scientific and scientific-organizational activities in 2022.

At the meeting, the Vice-President of ANAS, Academician Irada Huseynova, members of the Scientific Council of the Department of Biological and Medical Sciences, Academician Maharram Babayev, corresponding member of ANAS Ibrahim Jafarov, and the head of the International Scientific Cooperation Department of the Presidium of ANAS, Ph.D. Associate Professor Esmira Alirzayeva also participated.

Academician Irada Huseynova opened the event and in accordance with President Ilham Aliyev's Decree of July 28, 2022 "On some measures related to the improvement of management in the field of science and education in the Republic of Azerbaijan", a number of scientific institutions and organizations under ANAS, including the Institute of Microbiology Science and touched on the issue of transfer to the Ministry of Education and Science and expressed hope that the institute will successfully continue its activities in the new era.

Then, Academician Irada Huseynova gave the floor to Panah Muradov, General Director of the institution, corresponding member of ANAS,  for the presentation of the report on the results of the scientific and scientific-organizational activities of the Institute of Microbiology in 2022.

Panah Muradov reported on the work done in connection with the implementation of the relevant decrees and orders of the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan, State Programs. According to paragraphs 2-4 of the "Measure Plan for 2020-2022 on ensuring the efficient use of water resources" approved by the Decree of the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan dated July 27, 2020, "On the efficient use of water resources" he said that he actively participated in the preparation of the National Strategy and that these works were continued in the reporting year. It was brought to attention that according to the subject plan of 2022, 7 works on 2 problems and 7 subjects were completed in 14 stages at the institute. The speaker noted that the researches on the topics carried out during the reporting period were devoted to the assessment of the micro and mycobiota of the water, soil and forest ecosystems in different areas of the Republic of Azerbaijan, including those freed from occupation, in various aspects.

Then Panah Muradov provided information about the works implemented and performed on the basis of farm contracts. He noted that on the basis of a farm contract with the Scientific Research Institute of Vegetables of the Ministry of Agriculture of the Republic of Azerbaijan, the work on "Selecting high-yielding tomato and cucumber varieties for greenhouses, resistant to major diseases and developing innovative methods for their cultivation" have been completed in 2022, delivered and accepted by the customer.

In the reporting year, 72 scientific works of institute employees were published, including 4 books and monographs (1 abroad), 18 articles (16 abroad), 46 theses (8 abroad). 4 of the articles were published in journals included in the "Web of Science" database. 79 references were made to scientific works of employees. During the reporting period, the institute's international relations developed, and a memorandum on scientific cooperation was signed with the Chimkend University of the Republic of Kazakhstan and the Institute of Microbiology of the AS Uzbekistan.

In addition, cooperation agreements were signed with Khazar University, Institute of Soil Science and Agrochemistry.

Then speeches were made on the institute's annual report, personnel training, attracting young people to science, improving the quality of research, ensuring multidisciplinarity and other issues were exchanged.

Esmira Alirzayeva, head of the International Scientific Cooperation Department of the Presidium of ANAS, PhD in Biology, Associate Professor, addressed the international relations of the enterprise, presenting projects to foreign funds, cooperation with foreign centers in staff training.

Concluding the discussions, Academician Irada Huseynova stated the importance of further expansion of researches related to Araz and Kura, Okchuchay and other transboundary rivers, territories freed from occupation, and gave instructions and recommendations on relevant issues.

In conclusion, the scientific and scientific-organizational activity of the institute in the reporting year was evaluated satisfactorily.
