On May 16, an awarding ceremony for the winners of the III Republican competition "Microorganisms through the eyes of children" dedicated to the 100th anniversary of the birth of National Leader Heydar Aliyev was held in the Main building of ANAS, organized by the Institute of Microbiology of the Ministry of Science and Education.

In advance, an exhibition of handiwork of students who submitted their projects to the competition was viewed.

Academician Irada Huseynova, Vice-President of ANAS, who spoke at the event, said that bringing scientific and innovative initiatives to the fore and directing young people to scientific activity is one of the main priorities facing science and education.

Academician Irada Huseynova, who provided information about the activities of the Institute of Microbiology, noted that the institute, which was organized as the Microbiology sector during the years when the Great Leader was in power for the first time, is currently studying the physiological, biochemical and ecological bases of the use of microorganisms in depth. 

The Vice-President drew attention to the fact that this competition was organized taking into account the main strategic goals of the modern education system. She said that a total of 125 people applied for participation in the competition, and 141 handicrafts from 24 schools were presented. Academician Irada Huseynova noted that the main goal of the competition dedicated to the 100th anniversary of the birth of National Leader Heydar Aliyev is to further increase students' interest in the science of microbiology, improve theoretical and practical knowledge in this field, and reveal abilities that serve the development of creative thinking.

Then, the Deputy Director of the Department of Education of Baku city, Huseyn Asgarov spoke about the attention and care that Great Leader Heydar Aliyev showed to the development of science and education, and said that the genius leader approached the problems of science and education in a comprehensive manner. He emphasized that the National Leader has always taken serious measures to eliminate existing problems in this field and to implement an educational strategy in Azerbaijan in accordance with the experience of the developed countries of the world, and signed important historical decrees and orders.

Huseyin Asgarov noted the importance of holding such competitions in terms of integration of science and education and wished success to the students participating in the competition.

Panah Muradov, General Director of the Institute of Microbiology, corresponding member of ANAS, spoke about the exceptional role of the "Microorganisms through children's eyes" competition in the future life of students, which is organized for the third time. He emphasized that the competition was dedicated to the 100th anniversary of the birth of Great Leader Heydar Aliyev, and spoke about the invaluable services rendered by the prominent statesman for the welfare of our country.

Panah Muradov stated that the Great Leader Heydar Aliyev saw the future of the people and the state in highly qualified, professional and patriotic people, and that the genius leader took this work to the world level in the 70s and 80s of the last century, despite the limited financial resources of the country, and sent hundreds of young people to foreign countries to study. brought to attention. The Director General emphasized that the personnel policy founded by National Leader Heydar Aliyev is successfully continued today by President Ilham Aliyev.

Corresponding member of ANAS Panah Muradov thanked the students who are the future of Azerbaijan for their active participation in the competition and said that these projects are the beginning of their future successful activities.

At the event, the head of the microbiological biotechnology laboratory of the Institute of Microbiology, the chairman of the competition commission, Professor Konul Bakhshaliyeva made a presentation and dedicated the competition to the V and XI grade students studying in general schools and lyceums of our republic on the ecology, role, structure, beneficial and harmful effects and other characteristics of microorganisms in nature and human life. He emphasized that they participated in handicrafts such as paintings, models, sewing, and sculptures. He noted that, unlike previous years, the vast majority of handicrafts submitted to the competition this year were made by students studying in different regions of the republic.

Later, the works submitted to the competition were evaluated by the jury and the names of the winners were announced.

According to the decision of the jury, Mehin Gahramanzadeh, a student of Sabirabad district International Nature and Technical High School No. 2, and Oguz Isayev, a student of Baku European High School, won the first place. Sureyya Karimli, a student of Sabirabad district International Natural and Technical High School No. 2, Melek Namazova, a student of secondary school No. 189-190, and Siraj Adigozalov, a student of N. Behdiyev Ismailli City Secondary School No. 6, were awarded the second place. Alsu Kasamanskaya, a student of secondary school number 39, secondary school number 12 named after N.Tusi, Humay Amiraslanli, a student of Sumgayit city Istedadlar High school, Gulay Zeynalli, a student of Sabirabad district International Natural and Technical High School No. 2, Fatima Ahmadli, a student of Alpi village secondary school named after A.Abdullayev, Ujar district, and Nurlan Rahimli, a student of Baku city No. 307 secondary school, were awarded III place.
