Institute of Microbiology of the Ministry of Science and Education of the Republic of Azerbaijan hosted an event dedicated to May 28 - Independence Day, organized by the Council of Young Scientists and Specialists.
Director General of the Institute of Microbiology, corresponding member of ANAS Panah Muradov, who opened the event, said that the day of the formation of the Azerbaijan People Republic, the first secular democratic state in 1918, is celebrated as Independence Day. Namely, on May 28, 1918, the Azerbaijan National Council announced the creation of the Azerbaijan Democratic Republic with the “Declaration of Independence”. According to him, in tense and difficult socio-political conditions, the APR lasted only 23 months: “Unfortunately, the independent Azerbaijan Democratic Republic was overthrown. The Soviet Union forcibly included Azerbaijan in its composition. In 1991, Azerbaijan again restored its independence.”
The scientist noted that it was not easy to restore our independence. In the early 1990s, our republic faced severe trials, a real civil war and the threat of collapse: “Only after the return of national leader Heydar Aliyev to power, at the insistence of the people, was our independence fully restored and sustainable development achieved.”
He noted that under the leadership of President Ilham Aliyev, the independence of our country was further strengthened, and thanks to the valor of our glorious army in the 44-day Patriotic War, our territorial integrity was restored.
In his speech, the scientist also emphasized that every young scientist and specialist has a great responsibility and obligations.
Then the chairman of the Council of Young Scientists and Specialists of the Institute Aytan Bayramova and the deputy chairman Farida Aliyeva spoke, who noted that our people have been celebrating Independence Day for 3 years as a victorious nation. “This dear holiday is also celebrated on the lands liberated from the Armenian occupation, in our native Karabakh our tricolor flag flutters. We thank our soldiers and veterans who gave us this joy, we bow before the glorious memory of our martyrs,” the speeches noted.
At the end of the event, a video was shown about the creation and activities of the Azerbaijan People Republic, prominent political figures of that time.
