The meeting of the Presidium of the National Academy of Sciences of Azerbaijan (NAS) was held, dedicated to the discussion of the annual reports of the Department of Biological and Medical Sciences (DBMS) and the Lankaran Regional Scientific Center (LRSC) of the National Academy of Sciences of the year 2023.
The event was attended by the president of ANAS Academician Isa Habibbeyli, members of the Presidium, Deputy Minister of ecology and natural resources Vugar Kerimov, representatives of the ministries of health, agriculture, science and education, directors of a number of medical institutions, relevant persons and representatives of mass media.
First, those present got acquainted with the exhibition, which reflects the important scientific results obtained in the institutes covered by OBMN NANA, as well as in higher educational institutions and medical institutions in 2023.
Having opened the event with an introductory speech, Academician Isa Habibbeyli spoke about the agenda of the session. The academician spoke about the reforms carried out at the National Academy of Sciences, the research conducted in accordance with the demands of modern science, and the new scientific achievements obtained, calling them the successes of national science during the period of independence.
Academician Isa Habibbeyli said that in accordance with the appeals of the independent state of Azerbaijan, ANAS continues to work on the preparation of a new scientific generation and emphasized the importance of expanding this activity. The academician gave his recommendations in connection with the preparation of new encyclopedias and medical dictionaries, and also added that businessmen should also be invited to the next reports of OBMN, which will contribute to the commercialization of science.
The head of ANAS spoke about the events, conferences and symposia that took place in institutes and organizations that are part of DBMS, and in other medical institutions within the framework of the "Year of Heydar Aliyev", announced in the country in honor of the 100th anniversary of the birth of the outstanding statesman. national leader Heydar Aliyev, and the 100-year anniversary of academician Zarifa Aliyeva, who made an exceptional contribution to the development of medical science, and emphasized that in connection with these events, numerous scientific works were published in scientific institutions covered by the department.
Academician Isa Habibbeyli noted that after the Victory in the Patriotic War, the return to Karabakh and the surrounding regions turned into an important process that has great social, political and economic significance for our republic; The "Great Return" proclaimed by President Ilham Aliyev is an important state program that opens wide horizons for the restoration of the full map of Azerbaijan, the formation of new transport and logistics hubs in the region and adjacent territories, and the provision of economic and cultural development. The scientist spoke about the need for an even greater expansion of activities in connection with the "Great Return" and the definition of new scientific directions, adding that in this field, all scientific departments face important tasks.
The current year, continued the head of ANAS, has been declared in our country as the "Year of Solidarity in the Name of the Green World", Karabakh and Eastern Zangezur, as well as the Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic have been declared zones of green energy. Having said that today scientists conduct various researches in these territories and contribute to the creative works implemented by the state, Academician Isa Habibbayli emphasized the importance of holding the 29th session of the Conference of the Parties to the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change - COP29 in our country in 2024. .
Then the vice-president of ANAS, academician Irada Huseynova, chairman of the Scientific Council of the Department of Biological and Medical Sciences, presented a report on the scientific and scientific-organizational activities of the department in 2023.
