The event dedicated to the 34th anniversary of the January 20 tragedy was held at the Institute of Microbiology of the Ministry of Science and Education.

AZERTAC was told by the institute that first the memory of the martyrs who perished for the freedom and sovereignty of the Motherland was commemorated with a minute of silence. Khalilzadeh Vusala, head of the Institute's Education, Information and Relations Department, said that the tragedy of January 20, 1990 will live in the memory of the Azerbaijani people as a glorious page. January 20 is not only a day of sadness, but also a day of heroism of the Azerbaijani people. These bloody events were a bloody crime planned by the Soviet leadership to silence the true voice of our people. Equipped with modern weapons, the Soviet army units, which included Armenian officers, tried to suppress the freedom movement of the Azerbaijani people by mercilessly killing the peaceful population and people, she stated.

During the event, Aytan Bayramova, the Chairman of the Council of Young Scientists and Specialists, dealt with the crimes committed by the Soviet troops against the civilians who fought for the freedom of Azerbaijan on January 20. She said that our nation should not forget that the independence gained was at the sake of people's blood, and it must be conveyed onto future generations.

Later, Farida Aliyeva, deputy chairperson of the Institute's Council of Young Scientists and Specialists, and Aygun Behbudova, a member of the council, spoke about the truths of January 20 and spoke about the importance of communicating such historical events to the world community and the responsibility of young people in this direction. It was emphasized with certainty that the martyrs of January 20, written in golden letters in the glorious history of our nation, will never be forgotten, as long as our nation exists, their heroic deeds will always be remembered.
