On June 20, an international conference was held at Odlar Yurdu University, jointly organized by the Ministry of Science and Education of the Republic of Azerbaijan, the Institute of Dendrology, the Institute of Microbiology, the National Academy of Sciences of Azerbaijan, the North Kazakhstan State University named after Manash Kozybayev, the Institute of Botany and Phytointroduction of the Science Committee of the Ministry of Education and Science of Kazakhstan on the topic “The impact of global climate change on the ecological environment.”

The conference participants first laid flowers at the monument to the Great Leader Heydar Aliyev in the foyer of the university. Then there was an acquaintance with the exhibition dedicated to the scientific achievements of the Institute of Dendrology.

The international scientific-practical conference began its work after the performance of the National Anthem of the Republic of Azerbaijan.

Corresponding Member of ANAS Panah Muradov highly appreciated the work of the conference organized in Azerbaijan within the framework of the “Year of Solidarity for a Green World”. According to him, holding COP29 is a huge event for Azerbaijan and an indicator of trust in our country.

Rector of Odlar Yurdu University, Professor Ahmad Veliyev drew attention to the importance of the international event and stated that issues of climate change and biodiversity have become the most important issues in the world today.

Deputy Minister of Ecology and Natural Resources Vugar Karimov expressed confidence that today's conference will create opportunities for a joint exchange of ideas with representatives from around the world in order to solve the problems of the impact of global climate change on the ecological environment, study world experience and apply this experience in Azerbaijan.

The speakers further touched upon the importance of holding the conference, organized as part of the “Year of Solidarity for a Green World,” within the framework of international cooperation.

Then the conference was joined online by the rector of the Kazakhstan Institute of Botany and Phytointroduction, academician Gulnara Sitpaeva, the chairman of the CIS Botanical Gardens Society at the International Academies of Sciences, academician Vladimir Reshetnikov, the deputy chairman of the CIS Botanical Gardens Society at the International Academies of Sciences, academician Svetlana Potapova and others.

The conference will continue on June 21.
