An online meeting was held between the Institute of Microbiology of ANAS and the Livestock Research Institute of the Center for Agrarian Science and Innovation of the Ministry of Agriculture of the Republic of Azerbaijan, aimed at discussing mutual cooperation, exchange of experience, and future work.
The meeting with the participation of the management and staff of both institutes was opened by the director of the Livestock Research Institute Mahir Hajiyev, who highly appreciated the steps taken to develop relationships. Speaking about the history and development of the institute, M. Hajiyev said that despite falling behind after the Soviet era, the scientific institution headed by him has developed significantly over the past three years due to the application of innovative methods. He noted that the institute, consisting of 4 departments and 6 laboratories, has an Absheron livestock station, Goranboy beekeeping center, and Sheki stronghold and is going to open new strongholds in the territories liberated from enemy occupation. According to the scientist, the institute has installed the latest equipment for monitoring genetic studies of animals from the embryonic period to the postembryonic period. In addition, new equipment was purchased for the determination of toxins. Noting that the institute is applying a new method of providing animals with green fodder throughout the year, the scientist said that agreements have been signed with fodder factories, as well as with three large Russian institutes.
Then Acting Director of the Institute of Microbiology, corresponding member of ANAS Panah Muradov informed the audience about the history of creation and research objects of the scientific institution he headed, spoke about future joint projects between the parties. He brought to the attention that the Institute of Microbiology is currently conducting research on the creation of potent effective biological additives for the production of livestock products and the preparation of quality feed, and important results have been achieved. Thus, both scientific institutions can maintain annual cooperation in the development of grape silage and research on the prevention of diseases caused by microorganisms in plants and animals.
Then the head of the Laboratory of Microbiological Biotechnology of the Institute of Microbiology, Doctor of Biological Sciences, Konul Bakhshaliyeva, has informed about the development of biological products that prevent fungal diseases at the research institute she represents. She spoke about the existing relationships of the Institute of Microbiology with the institutes of Fruit, Tea, and Vegetable Growing of the Ministry of Agriculture and stressed her interest in organizing joint research with the Livestock Research Institute.
Noting the importance of establishing cooperation links in the field of animal husbandry and toxic poisoning, head of the Laboratory for Genetic Research and Application of Biotechnological Methods of the Livestock Research Institute Yasin Gozalov has brought to the attention that the institute has an auxiliary experimental farm where goats, sheep, chickens, and rabbits of various breeds are bred.
Aida Askerova, Deputy Director for Science of the Livestock Research Institute, speaking at the meeting, spoke about the process of breeding new breeds by the method of selection and reproduction.
Finally, the parties agreed to create a Working Group, develop a joint research project, and sign a cooperation agreement.
