The first meeting of the Problem Council on Biological, Agrarian, and Medical Sciences of the Coordination Council for Scientific Research of the Republic of Azerbaijan was held.
Opening the meeting, the vice-president of ANAS, chairman of the problem council, academician Irada Huseynova spoke about the necessity of establishing the council and drew attention to the relevant decision of the Presidium of ANAS. Notifying that the problem council consists of 25 influential scientists, she acquainted the participants with the composition of the council and informed them about the 5 working groups formed in the field of science and their members.
Introducing the council members, Academician Irada Huseynova stressed the importance of mutual cooperation among biology, agrarian, and medical sciences. The scientist touched upon the complexity of the pandemic period and the problems arising from it and spoke about the research and measures taken in this direction in the world and in our country.
Academician Irada Huseynova stressed the importance of determining the form of operative consideration of the issues submitted to the problem council for discussion and said that this would be an important step to prevent duplication in the names of topics. Emphasizing the importance of paying attention to the relevance of the work in the approval of the names of the topics, she noted the possibility of establishing close ties with various organizations and effective use of existing opportunities for the implementation of academic research at a high level. The chairwoman of the problem council informed about the activities expected from the problem councils in the implementation of the tasks arising from the Law of the Republic of Azerbaijan "On Science".
Then, Deputy Chairman of the Problem Council, Head of the Laboratory of Land Reclamation of the Institute of Soil Science and Agrochemistry of ANAS, Doctor of Agrarian Sciences Mustafa Mustafayev spoke about the importance of developing priorities, the relevance of the topics, adapting the level of research to today's requirements, preventing plagiarism. The speaker stressed the importance of giving priority to scientific work aimed at studying the biological diversity of the liberated territories, water, and land resources.
Deputy Chairman of the Scientific Council of the Department of Biological and Medical Sciences (DBMS), corresponding member of ANAS Nuru Bayramov congratulated the members of the problem council and wished them success in their activities. He stressed the importance of creating an electronic website to ensure the activities and harmonious development of the working groups of the Council in various fields. He demonstrated his work by noting that a dissertation page (http://bteb.science.gov.az/en/dissertation) was created on the DBMS website a few years ago.
Zeynal Akparov, Deputy Chairman of the Scientific Council of DBMS, Director of the Institute of Genetic Resources, corresponding member of ANAS, expressed satisfaction with the formation of the problem council and its working groups from reputable scientists and wished them success in their activities.
The event was attended by heads of laboratories of the Institute of Molecular Biology and Biotechnology, corresponding member of ANAS Ilham Shahmuradov, Professor Saftar Suleymanov, Doctor of biological sciences Yashar Feyziyev, head of the department of the Institute of Genetic Resources, Doctor of biological sciences Aydin Asgarov, Director of the Scientific Research Institute after V.Y.Akhundov, Doctor of Medical Sciences, Professor Adil Allahverdiyev, Head of the Department of Azerbaijan Medical University (AMU), Doctor of Medical Sciences, Professor Eldar Gasimov, Acting Head of the Department of Biophysics and Biochemistry of BSU, Doctor of Physical Sciences, Professor Rovshan Khalilov, a leading researcher of the National Ophthalmology Center named after Zarifa Aliyeva, Doctor of medical sciences, Professor Nizami Bagirov, associate professor of the II Department of Surgical Diseases of AMU, Doctor of medical sciences Rasim Jafarli, head of laboratory of the Institute of Physiology, Doctor of medical sciences, Professor Ali Allahverdiyev, senior researcher of the Institute of Zoology, Doctor of biological sciences, Associate Professor Asif Manafov, Head of the Laboratory of the Institute of Microbiology, Doctor of Biological Sciences, Associate Professor Konul Bakhshaliyeva and others shared their views on the effective organization of the problem council and working groups, specifically the importance of mastering new research methods and training highly qualified staff The speakers exchanged views on the real problems facing science in the world, the expansion of scientific research in the most modern areas and the importance of multidisciplinary projects for this purpose, the expediency of strengthening the material and technical base of science to achieve serious results.
Then, the scientific secretary of the problem council, head of the Mycology Laboratory of the Institute of Botany, Doctor of Biological Sciences Dilzara Agayeva said that 65 applicants had already applied for approval of dissertation topics. Information on each topic and applicant was provided in the form of a presentation. Corresponding member of ANAS Nuru Bayramov, head of the laboratory of the Institute of Botany, doctor of biological sciences, professor Sayyara Ibadullayeva, head of the laboratory of trees and shrubs of the Central Botanical Garden, doctor of biological sciences, professor Elman Iskander, doctor of medical sciences Rasim Jafarli, doctor of biological sciences Aydin Asgarov and others attended. Relevant decisions have been made on these issues.
Finally, it was decided to hold meetings of the problem council once a month.
