Order of the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan dated December 2, 2020 "On the establishment of the Memorial Day" adopted a decision to annually mark September 27 as Memorial Day. In connection with this law, a special meeting of the Academic Council of the Department of Biological and Medical Sciences (DBMS) was held in memory of ANAS.
Before the start of the event, the leadership and members of the Department of Biological and Medical Sciences visited the graves of martyrs of the Patriotic War in the II Alley of Honor. Vice-President of ANAS, Academician Irada Huseynova, members of the department, heads of research institutions, members of the DBMS, representatives of youth organizations paid tribute to the memory of Major General Polad Hashimov, Colonel Ilgar Mirzeyev.
Organized at the Institute of Molecular Biology and Biotechnology of ANAS, the meeting of the Academic Council of DBMS has remembered a minute of silence the memory of the martyrs.
Then, opening the event, Academician Irada Huseynova noted that September 27 will be one of the ordinary days of the year, which had a great significance in the 44th day of the Patriotic War. At the request of the President of the country this day will be marked annually in a sign of respect for the memory of our martyrs. The speaker noted that thanks to the bravery, heroism and bravery of the Azerbaijani soldier and under the leadership of the Supreme Commander-in-Chief Ilham Aliyev, our beloved lands, located on September 27, 2020, will be occupied by the occupying forces. He added that this historic victory is inscribed in the heroic chronicles of our people with the golden blood of our martyrs. Thousands of our compatriots, who voluntarily joined the struggle, not for life, but for death, for the restoration of our territorial integrity and the salvation of our national identity, sacrificed themselves and our health.
Afterwards, Academician Irada Huseynova informed that DBMS has prepared and implemented a comprehensive plan of activities in connection with the Memorial Day. The plan of events includes the organization of the event, dedicated to the Memorial Day, the visit to the Memorial of the Patriotic War and the Museum of Victory, the publication of articles, the list of donations to the foundation "YAŞAT", etc.
Corresponding members of ANAS Novruz Guliyev, Alovsat Guliyev, Elshad Gurbanov, Zeynal Akparov shared their memories of the first and second Karabakh wars. Reporters spoke about the steps taken by the founders of independent Azerbaijan, the great leader Heydar Aliyev and his worthy successor, the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan, the Supreme Commander-in-Chief of our Armed Forces.
In conclusion, were considered a number of issues related to the activities of the Department of Biological and Medical Sciences, and adopted the relevant decisions.
