A team of 20 individuals of junior students from the Faculty of Chemistry and Biology of Sumgayit State University (SSU) have passed a probation at the Institute of Microbiology of ANAS.
The purpose of the probation was to involve students in scientific work, and form in them the practical skills necessary for research and professional activity. Students have all the conditions to combine the knowledge gained at the university during their internship in the laboratories of the institute with scientific research.
In advance, the students were informed about the main activities of the institution, the working principles of the laboratories of the institute and international ties. Then the students visited the laboratories of Microbiological Biotechnology and Water Microbiology of the institute. Prior to the experiment, they were instructed in safety rules and reviewed the research work carried out.
The head of the Laboratory of Microbiological Biotechnology, Dr. Biology, Associate Professor Konul Bakhshaliyeva provided information about the nutrient scopes in the laboratory, their preparation, cultivation of microorganisms and the principle of operation of the equipment.
Head of the Laboratory of Water Microbiology, Ph.D., Associate Professor Anar Huseynov and employee of the laboratory Shafiga Feyzullayeva told students about the methods and devices of water testing.
The probation process and the knowledge they gained aroused great interest among the students.
