On April 28, Vice-President of ANAS, Academician Irada Huseynova, members of the Department of Biological and Medical Sciences of ANAS and General Directors of scientific institutions and organizations of the Department visited the 1st Alley of Honors on the occasion of the 99th anniversary of prominent ophthalmologist, Academician Zarifa Aliyeva have done.
In advance, the members of the department laid flowers at the grave of the great leader as an expression of deep respect and esteem for the unforgettable memory of the architect and founder of the modern independent Azerbaijani state, world-famous political figure, national leader Heydar Aliyev.
Then the memory of the Great Leader's lifelong friend, ophthalmologist, Academician Zarifa Aliyeva was commemorated, and wreaths and flowers were laid at her grave.
Members of the Department also commemorated prominent scientist, Academician Jalal Aliyev and laid flowers at his grave.
Then the memorial nook of Academician Zarifa Aliyeva at the Institute of Physiology of ANAS named after academician Abdulla Garayev was visited and flowers were laid in front of it.
Vice-president of ANAS, Academician Irada Huseynova spoke about the scientific achievements of Academician Zarifa Aliyeva, her activity as a professional doctor, active public figure. She noted that research on the physiology and dysfunction of the vision analyzer at the Institute of Physiology was initiated under the supervising of Academician Zarifa Aliyeva, a member of the Department of Biological and Medical Sciences. The ophthalmologist worked at the Institute of Physiology of ANAS in 1975-1985. Vice-President Zarifa Aliyeva stressed that the scientific directions founded by her are being successfully continued.
