Today is the birthday of a famous scientist and teacher in the field of microbiology, a competent organizer of science, General Director of the Institute of Microbiology of the Ministry of Science and Education of the Republic of Azerbaijan, corresponding member of ANAS, Doctor of Biological Sciences, Professor Panah Zulfigar oglu Muradov.

In 1989, at the age of 29, Panah Muradov, under the scientific supervision of Moscow State University professor Anatoly Klyosov, defended his dissertation for the degree of Doctor of Philosophy (former candidate of science) in biology, specializing in Microbiology, and in 2004, a dissertation for the degree of Doctor of Science . He was awarded the title of associate professor in 1995, professor in 2011 and corresponding member of ANAS in 2007.

Through his scientific activities, the scientist made a great contribution to the training of highly qualified scientific personnel. Under his scientific leadership, 28 doctors of philosophy and 3 doctors of science were trained, including citizens of foreign countries.

The scientist began his career as a chief laboratory assistant at the Institute of Microbiology (which was formerly part of the National Academy of Sciences of Azerbaijan), then worked as a junior researcher, full-time graduate student, researcher, senior researcher, group leader, head of the laboratory and head of the department. From April 1995 to May 2020, he served as deputy director for scientific work of the Institute of Microbiology, from May 2020 - director, from July 2021 to the present, the scientist is the general director of the Institute of Microbiology.

In 2006, he was elected as a member of the Expert Commission on Biological and Agricultural Sciences of the Higher Attestation Commission under the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan, and from 2009 to 2021 he was deputy chairman of this commission. Since 2013, he has been a member of the Bureau of the Department of Agrarian Sciences of ANAS, as well as an active member of the International Academy of Sciences for the Study of the Turkic World, and a corresponding member of the Russian Academy of Natural Sciences. Since 2009, he has been a member of the editorial board of the journals “Microbiology and Biotechnology” of the Georgian Society of Microbiologists and “Izvestia of the Moscow State University, Natural Sciences Series” of the Moscow State Regional University. The scientist is a member of the editorial board of the journal “Microbiology and Virology”, published in Kazakhstan, as well as the journal “Scientific News of Astrakhan State University”, published in Russia.

More than 280 scientific works of the scientist have been published. One of them is a monograph, 2 are a book and 5 are copyright certificates. More than half of his works have been published in prestigious publications published in countries such as the USA, Great Britain, Russia, Turkey, India, Ukraine, Belarus, Czech Republic, Hungary, Georgia, Romania, Brazil, etc. The scientist has repeatedly become the winner of international grant projects (SRDF and STGU). For his services in the development of microbiological science, he was awarded the “Diploma of Honor” of ANAS 3 times.

Currently, under the leadership of Panah Muradov, practical steps have been taken to modernize the activities of the scientific institution, train specialists, establish and further develop business connections. On the initiative of P. Muradov, joint work is being carried out with many institutions in the field of application of scientific results, successful results have been achieved, practical projects are being implemented in a number of areas.
