Tarlan Mammadov, an Azerbaijani professor, a corresponding member of ANAS, and a group of researchers led by him have developed a spray and vaccine against COVID-19 at the University of the Akdeniz of Turkey (Mediterranean). The basis of the drug is a protein produced by the leaves of the plate of the species "nicotiana benthamiana".
The study reported that research was conducted on the study of ACE2 (an angiotensin-converting enzyme 2), which is important for preventing the penetration of the virus into the cell.
T.Mammadov reported that the reduction of the level of this enzyme, which is blocked by the virus COVID-19 in the body, causes serious problems with the health of the human body. He said that the majority of patients in the intensive care unit observed a low level of this enzyme.
“In our research, we were able to produce a large number of this enzyme, and are ready to provide this enzyme for life. Proteins, which we produce from plants, can be used in the form of sprays, as well as injections”, he added.
T.Mammadov said that if they find financial sources, they will be able to bring the drug to the market in four months.
