Prominent scientist, laureate of the State Prize, Honored Scientist, "Shohrat" and "Sharaf" orders, Academician Maharram Mammadyarov passed away at the age of 98.
A large part of Mammadyarov's scientific activity in the field of petrochemistry is connected with the Institute of Microbiology of the Azerbaijan National Academy of Sciences. Thus, from 1981 to 2002, he headed the Institute of Microbiology of ANAS, and until 1994, an institution that operated as the Microbiology Sector of ANAS received the status of the Institute is the result of its activities.
From the moment he became the head of the Institute of Microbiology, on his initiative, the theme of the sector was aimed at solving microbiological issues of regional importance in the absence of production of microbiological synthesis products in the country.
For the first time in the field of oil microbiology, modeling of microbiological processes in oil fields was carried out. The obtained result was tested in the field and accepted for application by Azneft.

The proposed method for the restoration of oil-contaminated lands under the leadership of the scientist was awarded a silver and bronze medal at the Exhibition of Economic Achievements of the former USSR.

The results of the scientist's scientific research are reflected in 5 monographs, about 500 scientific articles and more than 60 inventions. Mammadyarov trained 6 doctors of sciences and 21 candidates of sciences. The scientific adviser of the doctoral dissertation of the general director of the Institute of Microbiology of ANAS, corresponding member of ANAS Panah Muradov was also the late academician.
The memory of the outstanding scientist, unique personality, Academician Maharram Mammadyarov will always live in the hearts of both chemists and his followers.
