Today, February 19, the General Meeting of the Azerbaijan National Academy of Sciences was held.
The event was attended by Farah Aliyeva, Head of the Department of Humanitarian Policy, Diaspora, Multiculturalism and Religious Affairs of the Presidential Administration, as well as members of the Presidium of ANAS and active members of the Academy.
President of ANAS, Academician Ramiz Mehdiyev addressed the meeting. He noted that at the meeting of the Presidium on February 14, he resigned due to his age and would appeal to President Ilham Aliyev on this issue.
Then, in accordance with the Charter, an open vote was held on the dismissal of Academician Ramiz Mehdiyev from the post of President of the Academy. As a result of the voting, Ramiz Mehdiyev's appeal was confirmed.
After the decision was made, in accordance with Article 9.6 of the Charter of ANAS, the functions of the President of the Academy were entrusted to the First Vice-President, Academician Arif Hashimov.
